Teik is a Chartered Accountant qualified (1979) in the United Kingdom and Australia. Apart from his expertise in tax and accounting services, Teik also provides expertise in the areas of Business and Strategic Plans, Business and Organisational Reviews and other Organisational Development needs
Working in London in the late 1970's, Teik was instrumental in the development of Beta testing for computerised accounting software on Olivetti mini-computers through their use in the Chartered Accounting firm of Parekh & Somaiya. As Practice Manager, Teik also planned and implemented the changeover from Olivetti mini-computer systems to IBM PC's in the early 1980's – just as PC's were starting to develop as a real commercial tool.
In Perth, Western Australia in the mid-1980's, Teik was an Account Manager in KMG, an international Chartered Accounting firm, and was also Manager of the Perth KMG Microlab, an early “shopfront” concept that put together various makes and models of PC's (including Apple Mac's) to allow clients to test various hardware and software systems before buying. The KMG Microlab also offered systems consulting and implementation.
From the late 1980's Teik was a Principal with Arthur Andersen, another international accounting and management consulting company. He looked after a client ledger worth Aus$ 1 million in revenue, and provided his clients with accounting, tax, auditing and business advisory services. During this time with Arthur Andersen he also held the position of Australian Manager of the Arthur Andersen Japanese Investment Network (JIN), which in co-ordination with the other JIN offices throughout the world specifically looked after the international needs of the company's Japanese clients.
Whilst with Arthur Andersen, Teik was also seconded to their world headquarters in Chicago where he headed up a team that wrote and delivered training programs for Arthur Andersen consultants worldwide. During this period he worked in the US, Japan and Singapore delivering the training programs, conducting train-the-trainer courses, as well as managing client assignments. At the same time he retained and developed his Perth-based client portfolio.
In 1991 Teik left Arthur Andersen and co-founded a Chartered Accounting practice called King & Oh which was set up to service small businesses with large firm expertise. During this period Teik collated his learning and experiences to formulate consulting products and off-the-shelf management processes for small to medium sized businesses. Teik grew and developed King & Oh until in 2004 he left the partnership to form his own company, OTS Management and seek new horizons that encompassed the full and holistic servicing of Small and Medium Enterprises, using Teik's own management and consulting procedures, processes and products.
